Direct Appraisal was started in 1991 when it became obvious that vehicle owners were not being adequately represented during the appraisal and claims process.  

Appraisal services, even so-called "independent" appraisal services, have an obvious and inherent bias because they are hired by the insurance company and are often required to follow predetermined appraisal and claim guidelines. 

This situation causes a direct conflict of interest between the insurance company, their appraiser and the vehicle owner. We saw a need for the vehicle owner to have someone to represent their interests without bias.  

Direct Appraisal is the only appraisal service that works only for the vehicle owner, not the insurance company or repair facility.
